Adventures in Lost Wax Casting

It has been a busy summer and fall so I am looking forward to winter now. My casting skills have improved quickly. Lost wax casting of silver is quite an adventure. Carving the wax is the easy part for me but when I get to the actual casting of the metal that is another story.

They say practice makes perfect, I say it helps. I have worked out the kinks in my new casting set up. The last two rounds of silver casting have been very sucessful. 

What does this mean to you? When I cast silver verses making something in metal clay it means a stronger product. I feel each have a place in my studio. I love the metal clay for earrings and necklaces. My thoughts are that everyday rings should probably be cast.
